Katelyn McCarter doesn’t bring a picture perfect past to the stage when she sings. Instead, she brings life’s obstacles that she has overcome that inspires her to create music by the invigorating strength she receives from God.

“We go through a lot in life and as human beings, we’re really down on ourselves,” said McCarter. “I love to reach out to people and make them feel more confident about life.”

Influenced by artists like Natalie Grant and TobyMac, McCarter is a Christian pop singer/songwriter from Richmond, Virginia who is determined to spread God’s grace that has led her to pursuing a life of music. A two-time International Music and Entertainment Association Christian Female Vocalist, Christian Entertainer of the Year award-winner and Rebirth Radio’s 2013 Song of the Year and Rising Artist of the Year award winner, McCarter is on a roll and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

“Katelyn is a refreshing, authentically talented young lady who wants to serve God every day, both through her music and everyday life,” said All Access Christian.

McCarter understands that music is more than a lifestyle: it’s a business. Having gone through ups and downs with record companies in the past, she is now working with Nashville-based Grammy-nominated and Dove Award winning producer/songwriter/
engineer Rusty Varenkamp. Varenkamp’s past projects include TobyMac, Michael W. Smith, David Crowder and Tenth Avenue North.

McCarter’s past performances include opening for Amy Grant, Big Daddy Weave, Kerrie Roberts, Ryan Stevenson, Sidewalk Prophets and Sonicflood. McCarter was also selected to perform in the main line-up for Gospel Music Fest 2014. But in every performance, McCarter paints a memorable musical moment for her audience.

In light of her passion to inspire and encourage her younger audience, McCarter is sponsored by Childfund International as a live artist act. At each performance, McCarter talks to the crowd about the organization and provides information about different children being sponsored around the world.

“I find it really important to be inspiring to the young considering how much pressure they receive from social media, social networks, etc.,” McCarter said.

This summer, McCarter plans to continue traveling to Nashville and will be releasing an EP Summer 2015, “Chasing The Wind” about life, love, and the lessons she has learned from God along the way.
