Found in 2004 from Nashville, Tennessee, with Michael Barnes, Anthony Armstrong, Joe Rickard and Randy Armstrong in the band, Red has released three albums out of which two were nominated for the Grammys in the Best Christian Gospel category.

Background

Red debuted with ‘End of Silence’ in 2006 that went on to garner immense appreciation from its critics and the common public. ‘Breathe Into Me’ peaked at No 15 for the Billboard ratings and went on to be nominated for a Grammy Award at the 49th Awards Nights in the Best Christian Gospel category. The single ‘Lost’ won the Best Song at the GMA Dove Awards that year and singles like ‘Let Go’ and ‘Pieces’ were featured as part of famous sitcoms and television shows, adding to the popularity of the tunes.

‘Innocence and Instinct’ was the second album by Red in 2008, which opened at No 15 in the Billboard Rating list and sold nearly 39,000 copies in its first week. ‘Death of Me’, ‘Forever’ and ‘Shadows’ were singles that opened to rave reviews and peaked at the top ten positions at various music listings all over. Red went on to win their second Dove Award for the Rock Album of the Year in 2009. It was during this juncture that Red came to be known as a Christian Gospel Band. Anthony Armstrong, the co-founder and lead artiste at the band recalls, ‘People would ask (them) if (they) were a Christian Band, and (they) would say, yes, because Christianity is an important part of (our) lives and it is what makes us what we are today.’

The third album ‘Until We Have Faces’ by Red released in 2011 and immediately was declared a chartbuster. The singles peaked at several radio CCM and Christian Gospel listings while some of them like ‘Feed the Machine’ and ‘Start Again’ won the Red gang their third GMA Dove Award and a Grammy nomination.
