With her unique blend of Jazz, Soul and Gospel, Petula Beckles is one of the most vibrant, and promising Gospel artists to date. Her golden array of smooth tones and melodious stories captivates her audience creating a warm effervescent atmosphere of praise.
No shrinking flower when it comes to expressing her deep spirituality, she speaks life into the words of her songs and the truth of her conviction is clear to all who hear her.

Born in Tobago West Indies, Petula Beckles began her story as a child protégé performing her first song, “Give your Life to Jesus” at the age of 5. Her natural talent and love for singing led her to become the Golden Star Karaoke Girl in Tobago at age 14. Although she could not read sheet music, Ms. Beckles’ talent won her a full scholarship to sing with the Chamber Choir and Choral at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.

While attending college, Petula toured with the choir and an African a cappella group called ‘The Zambian Vocal majority’ for 2 and ½ years singing throughout Texas, while receiving invitations to sing solo at various events and concerts. After moving to Florida in 2005 Petula decided to follow another passion of hers; children, she became a Baby Nurse. While using her voice to soothe babies, Ms. Beckles, never forgetting her first love, worked behind the scenes and released her first single “Today I Will Shout” in 2006, which charted at #21 on the Independent International top 30’s in 2010. Though she enjoyed working with children, Petula heeded the call from God and began her music ministry full time in December 2007.

From 2008 and beyond Petula Beckles took the Gospel world by storm releasing her solo debut album “My Song of Jesus” which has aided in landing Petula her current contract with Tate Music Group. She has shared billing and stages with Gospel greats as Canton Jones, Lexi, DeWayne Woods, Lisa McClendon, Kim Burrell and more, and has toured a great deal of the east coast gracing stages as Gospel Uptown, Village Underground, Nuyorican Poet’s Café, The Triad NYC and more.

Petula’s stage has the quintessence Jazz house feel with a kiss of whimsy—she often performs sitting on a chair with her whimsical jade Guitar on her lap, an instrument she taught herself to play. An upright bass, piano, percussions and bongos complete the Petula Beckles experience.

As well as a musical artist, Ms. Beckles has founded Alutep Publishings in 2006, and is the radio personality for’ The Motif’ on ‘Alutep radio’. She also is a journalist forBREATHEcast.com a Christian Non-Profit Organization where she has interviewed some of today’s major Gospel and Christian artists: Tamela Mann, Jason Crabb, Guy Penrod, and Ricardo Sanchez.

“If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail” is Petula’s motto. Using her God-given talents to reach out to the world and touch each soul with her lyrical testimonies, you can expect great and marvelous things from this blossoming flower.
